Clerk hurt in robbery
MANATEE - A Manatee convenience store clerk was injured during an armed robbery Monday afternoon.
About 4 p.m., a man walked into the Fastenal Co. store in the 1400 block of Commerce Boulevard.
The suspect picked out some glasses and went to the counter to pay for them. As the clerk was counting out the change, the suspect waved a box cutter and cut the clerk on the arm.
He then grabbed the cash, left the store and got into a gray Buick LeSabre with two other men and fled westbound on Commerce Boulevard.
The clerk's injury did not require care by paramedics.
The suspect was described as having short dreadlocks with rubber bands at the ends.
Internal organs found
Two men Monday evening found what appear to be the internal organs from a calf while fishing near Boyd Bridge, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
About 5:30 p.m., they saw a small heart and set of lungs in the water and called 9-1-1. When deputies arrived, they pulled the organs onto the beach. Shortly thereafter, deputies found more organs, such as intestines and stomach, floating in the water underneath the bridge, according to the sheriff's office.
The county body removal team responded to pick up the organs. Upon initial investigation, the organs appear to be that of a calf. The organs were taken to the medical examiner's office for more investigation.
It was unknown how long the organs were in the water and where they came from.

And assuming you would want to scrape them off, the estimated one million pennies carefully glued there over the years by owners Mike and Annie Moore would take care of part of the $50,000 down payment on the sale.
The unusual decorations have put the steakhouse restaurant and bar on the map, being featured in news stories and a PBS television report.
The Moores have put the hotel up for sale with an asking price of $1 million. None of the 14 rooms, however, is open; the Moores just operate the restaurant and bar.
They’ve owned the hotel since 1999 and now say it’s time for them to retire.
“The daily overflow lunch crowd from the oilfields and the destination for motorcycle and car clubs also includes people who just like great steaks,” says the sales pitch from LoopNet.com, a commercial real estate Web site.
