Gone are the years when a java day of the month was the byword. In twoes or quartets, tea or java was consumed in an bosom treatment at the end of a difficult day's work.
That was Eldoret in the 1980s and 1990s. That have since changed, with java becoming something of an anathema.
Today, it is no longer the java date, but a suds date. Young people openly inquire their friends where they can catch the brownish bottle.
In most restaurants, only a little per centum of frequenters defy the alluring allurement of suds to settle down for a mugful of tea or coffee.
In Eldoret, where there are about 20 parallel bars in the chief concern district, binging is more than common than the traditional java date.
On weekdays, it gets as early as 4pm. On Fridays, it often gets shortly after lunch, extending throughout the weekend.
Eldoret basks a good circulation of money in the custody of its youth. Quite literally, it soon happens its manner down the drain.
Mr Denny Naliava, a pupil at Moi University and a teetotaller, states java and tea are too formal for the young person to alleviate stress.
"I'm a teetotaller, but I have got no job meeting friends over suds while I take my glass of sodium carbonate or milk. But there is a large watershed between us and often I experience out of place," he says.
Ms Religion Kapkerich from Metric Ton Elgon District states rampant idling and inexpensive spirits promote drinking.
"What would you make with your free clip and unemployment? The agony and emphasis is so terrible and the lone option left is binging that gives false hope," she says.
Similarly, Multiple Sclerosis Fiona Mwende states binging beef ups friendly relationship among the young person and supplies a better hunting land for prospective matrimony partners.
Mwende states since most work force desire to get away from pressing problems, a suds day of the month is an easy option for pouring out their heart.

Mr Amos Oduor states because of occupation and family-related stress, most people often happen themselves in the public house where they can talk, laughter and share without inhibition.
"It is easier to let go of occupation and emotional emphasis over a glass of suds than tea. Tea is boring."
